Prince of Wales Pier Renovation

Works will commence this Monday 23rd September.

Please note that TMS, the main contractor will be using a barge to move materials from the main slipway to the outer pier.

To make room for the barge to manoeuvre it is necessary to move some of the boats to alternative locations in the harbour. Where necessary new sinkers and moorings will be installed. The Harbour Master will organise this.

Please also note that parking on the main slipway (limited to fishermen and contractors by prior approval only) will be suspended for the duration of the project.

Thanks to those who called into the open morning on Tuesday. A reminder that there will be another this Saturday from 10-1230 at the harbour office (Mawdsleys Room, The Warren). All welcome.

Last week, we welcomed the annual visit from Trinity House for their inspection of the Polperro lighthouse and the navigation lamp at the harbour entrance.

Polperro’s fishing heritage is under pressure following the closure of the Plymouth wholesale fish market in 2024. The loss of a vital collection service left local vessels facing tough choices—but a new community-led solution is helping to keep the industry afloat.
