Meet our Team of Volunteers
As a not for profit organisation we heavily rely upon the good will and support of members of our local community, they all work in a voluntary capacity to run and mange our harbour on a day to day basis.
The Trustees meet 10 times per year to discuss a surprisingly wide range of topics.
“Our decisions are guided by three main objectives:
- The Harbour is a safe and enjoyable place to work and visit
- To preserve the Heritage of the Harbour
- To promote and support sustainable fishing from Polperro”
Oliver Puckey
Harbour Master
The Harbour Master is responsible for the day to day management of the harbour business. He or she is responsible for enforcing the regulations of our harbour, in order to ensure the safety of navigation, the security of the harbour and the correct operation of the port facilities.
Oliver Puckey is a born and bred local boy. He went to the local school and, as so many do, moved away to in order to join the Merchant Navy after finishing his education. He returned to Polperro several years ago and was elected to function as the current Harbour Master in 2013.
Besides looking after the harbour, he is also one of the Boatmen / Skippers of The Polperro Bay Coastal Trips team who offer pleasure boat trips along the spectacular coast of the Polperro.
Oliver is keen to marry the different needs of our picturesque and historic harbour ~ a working fishing port, treasured gem of the villagers and idyllic tourist destination for many ~ into a workable whole that meets the needs of all involved.
