Polperro Heritage Museum is now open daily from 10:30 to 16:30 (last entry 16:00) through to October.
Visitors can enjoy a range of new exhibits and themes, making it well worth a return visit. Highlights include the oldest known painting and map of Polperro, Jonathan Couch’s original History of Polperro manuscript, and a feature on pioneer photographer Lewis Harding.
There is plenty to explore for all ages, from engaging dioramas of pilchard processing, a smuggling cave and a WWII observation post, to a local take on Robinson Crusoe and even a gaol complete with smuggler. The museum also houses a fine collection of model boats.
Exhibitions explore Polperro’s rich fishing heritage, village life, and its lesser-known history as a thriving art centre in the 19th and early 20th centuries, with works from UK, European and American artists.
